@CJPaloma@mstdn.social I also think it's a CHOICE -- in the world today, you gotta work hard to not know that feminism is a thing and egalitarianism exists. It's not necessarily that they were *raised* this way -- these are men CHOOSING to be like this, and continuing that choice, long after exposure to plenty of other options. They choose it because it *very often* gives them power, they very often get *rewarded* by deeply entrenched patriarchal attitudes rife in society. We have to stop rewarding this shit

@CJPaloma@mstdn.social Basically, we need to stop making excuses for men who behave like this, that somehow they don't know exactly what they're doing and have made the calculation that it will pay off (or at least won't hurt them). It needs to start hurting them, ie have consequences, no excuses, fail to gain them power, etc. And this is true for *every* man who engages in this behavior, from the obnoxious contractor who came to my house up to the president.
