Given all the shit going on…
I did appreciate learning from Chris Packham last night just how paradigm-shifting the evolution of the bumhole was. As Chris puts it:
“I absolutely love the fact that for life to evolve a head, it had to evolve an arse first.”
And my internal feeling while watching Episode #3 of Evolution was not unlike the countenance of the early fish, Metaspriggina of the Cambrian period

…Once you have a bumhole, “then you’ve got an animal with a mouth, a gut and an anus. Essentially, a front and a back. And the front where the mouth is is the bit that wants to find food. That’s the best place to put any sensory organs, like eyes to look for food. And if you’ve got sensory organs there, that would be the best place to have the brain, so they could react quickly when they find that food. So then you’ve got a mouth, eyes and a brain in the same place. What you’ve got is a head…”
