@Godyssey@pagan.plus Thank You for responding, and with such as you did! ๐Ÿ˜„ It indeed is the story itself that seems to not have its mind made up about its own facts. However, I also struggled (still struggling? ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿฅด) with the what and why regarding the apparent imposed separation, especially given that initially it didn't read as Polyamoury or cuckoldry [neither practise seems obvious here to Me as there doesn't seem to be any consent or communication about anything, and folks are just cheating on their respective spouses ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝ, but perhaps CNC was their thing?!] I'm just not comprehending, if ___ doesn't care if their spouse has lovers or one other lover, then why intervene at all? It isn't clear to Me if say, things were ao overwhelming that first ___ couldn't deal with things anymore, or, it was becoming publicly known and their status/image etc couldn't have that, or, if real jealousy arose, or, if this were just a final and very poor "solution" to the issue.

@VenusianMars@cupoftea.social I think the logic there is that CuChulainn drawing the attention of the si is dangerous for Ulster in the stories, so Emer took offense to that and did not want Fand to steal him away to one of the fairy worlds like Tir na nOg as fairy lovers often do. Have a dalliance with a noble's wife, daughter, the milkmaid, whomever, but don't threaten everyone by leaving Ulster unguarded while you seek pleasure in the Otherworld. Basically Emer was acting in the defense of her people, if interpreted that way. Fairy lovers often end in death or worse, and she wanted to avoid that fate for Ulster. In versions where, instead of CuChulainn going into his coma, Fand is just impressed with Emer's devotion, it makes sense that she is moved by Emer's devotion to her people, to keep CuChulainn in the land of the living while she can. Not a definitive reading but an idea at least.
