"Marco Rubio says the US will deny visas to foreign nationals involved in cybercrime and may extend the restrictions to their immediate families.......... Marco Rubio says the US will deny visas to foreign nationals involved in cybercrime and may extend the restrictions to their immediate families." (see on The Register) Why not allow the suspected criminals to get visas, allow them to fly over here, and then arrest them and prosecute them?

@PogoWasRight@infosec.exchange Do a significant number of those suspects travel to the U.S.? Restrictions on family members might be slightly the more meaningful message here? I'd guess this is more of a statement, and a relatively small baby step in fighting cybercrime outside the border. It may also just be a political statement to the administration's supporters?

@PogoWasRight@infosec.exchange Tonight, the role of Marco Rubio will be played by Jonathan Groff. 'Cause when push comes to shove.. I will ̶k̶i̶l̶l̶ deny visas to your friends and family to remind you of my love Da-da-da, dat-da, dat, da-da-da, da-ya-da

@PogoWasRight@infosec.exchange Another totally nonsensical policy, largely because of the critical point you raise in your last sentence. Also, do we expect State to now investigate online criminal networks and cross-correlate membership lists with lists of visa applicants?
