Coveted riverfront property in Edmonton! Motor boats sending wakes onto our little tropical islands!
The lunchtime thunder & hail storm didn't seem too bad, but apparently there was enough debris in our storm drains already that this completely took out our street.
I haven't walked over to check the big dry pond stormwater management system in the centre of Parkallen (opened a few years ago, sunken park/sports field that is supposed to fill up to hold water if the stormwater drains get overloaded). From the window it doesn't look full; it just looks like our street that is blocked.
PS, for #YEG folks: They've updated the 311 website. Mostly nice, although I personally prefer one giant form instead of clicking through 4 short forms. (But they do have one complete review page.) Still doesn't have a way to modify/add a comment to your previous report, so I can't tell them that the water is draining, but slowly: the sidewalks are now clear.
Wait.
Raining hard again, that might not be true for long...

Update: The street is now a street again. I went out to clear sticks & mud from the drains & realized there was a driftwood tide line left behind on the shores of our temporary river. Before they did the major drainage work in the neighbourhood, it was common to have the street flood up to the curb level in a particularly intense summer thunderstorm downpour with hail. But I've never seen it flood quite this high! Also, the air is now very stinky again. That was a foul wind that blew no good, at all. #YEGwx

@AmeliasBrain@mstdn.ca Man, what a mess. I don't know that it's just the street drains, though. We have standing water in our back yard, where we have a deliberate low spot.
