Almost 15 years ago, I read Dan Pink's "Drive", and learnt that bonuses don't work in knowledge businesses. I remember speaking about it to my boss who first laughed but then read the book when it was recommended to us at a lean conference we attended (my advice wasn't enough...). But bosses don't change a system that benefits them. Because they don't act as stewards, but for private gain.
