@johnvoorhees@mastodon.macstories.net But what happens when a third of the economy is dependent on two companies that declare bankruptcy? The scale here is so much larger than the dotcom crash.

@buffaloseven@mstdn.ca The economic theory behind bankruptcies is that they an efficient way to redeploy capital, which saves jobs and keeps assets in the economy working productively. The reality is that frontier labs are big enough and important enough that if one collapses there might be a government bailout, which is would be paid for by taxpayers ultimaitely.
