@Tutanota@mastodon.social They had a similar thing for new sign ups for years. I once tried to register and they asked me to do the same. I suppose it's the fact that I was connected to a VPN server that triggered this process, although you'll find complaints on reddit from other people too. Still, none of this solved the issue with the quality of the content and discussions on Facebook. I'm under no illusion that this is their goal though.
