I know what you mean. I decided not to respond because the response just oozed conceit and condescension.
Also, being a psychologist does not equal being an expert on large language models. I have a Masters degree in ‘Algorithms, Data Analysis and Machine Learning’ from the same University where Linus Torvalds created Linux. I think between the two of us, my education is more relevant to the topic, even if it’s not a PhD or double Masters.
I never claimed human brains and neural networks are equivalent, just that the use of multi-layered digital synapses make them capable of inference and creating novel solutions that weren’t present as examples in the training data, and the obfuscation of their operation through a neural network means they don’t follow preset programming logic, and are in fact largely black boxes in how they reach a solution. It doesn’t take “millions of attempts” for one successful response - that’s just literal nonsense.
