Yesterday would have marked six years working at GitLab. @brie@social.lol thanks for this. I've found that TeamOps and the operating principles to be a good references on how to apply values, but some of what you talk about are certainly things that aren't obvious from those, especially being willing to ask questions and how (so important!). It's always also been interesting which parts people put emphasis on, so appreciate your distilling of them.

@brie@social.lol Nicely done! Sort of the opposite of the AI arguments today, I remember when this went public, and people couldn't wrap their heads around that section, as if it's not the important part of the (and probably every) job.

@brie@social.lol What a great post. What a great way of describing those. (I love that reference to XKCD 1053!) I think GitLab, particularly Support, has been the only place I've experienced such a conscious acknowledgement and embodiment of the stated shared values. Even with them alignment was hard! But without that any kind of org-wide alignment across teams seems impossible. Hopefully CREDIT blooms keep sprouting up everywhere as the people at GitLab that lived them find their way hither and yon.
