I thought much of it was "just" investment capital. If it's that much in loans then it's bigger than the subprime mortgage crisis though

Although in the UK in "theory" lending banks are supposed to have much bigger reserves today relative to what they loan out which is supposed to be a cushion against this kind of thing, but that's assuming the accounting is above board and that cameron's government didn't secretly screw us... pros, lower interest rates? 😂
