DEFTONES Adrenaline 2022 U.S. reissue From the beginning, I never understood why they got lumped in either all of those inferior shithead “nu metal” bands. For starters, they were first out the gate, and were around before any of those asshole bands reared their very ugly heads (and music). Musically, DEFTONES were always far more interesting and dynamic band. Amongst all those pummeling guitars and pounding drums was always an incredible sense of melody and songcraft. I was a fan of them right from the start. As a junior in high school, I was instantly obsessed with Adrenaline. Their very first record, it’s far from their best. It is however, one of my two favorites. Chino is an incredible front man, and as a live act, they’ve always been just MAMMOTH. My love for this band will never waiver.
