From the article: "This isn't fair competition; it's product degradation driven by a small group of self-serving complainants, with European businesses and consumers taking the hit. Regulation should improve products, not make them worse." No, regulation should improve SOCIETY. If your product instead ENSHITTIFIES it for profit, regulation should hold it accountable. You know, LIKE THIS. cc: @pluralistic@mamot.fr https://www-cnbc-com.cdn.ampproject.org/c/s/www.cnbc.com/amp/2026/07/23/google-1-billion-eu-fine-dma.html

@EINS_Institute@infosec.exchange @pluralistic@mamot.fr 50/50 on it. Google is almost certainly biassed; even if they believe their own offerings are superior to that of competitors (and, most companies at least claim that) it makes sense to check multiple comparison sites to confirm if there is a consensus or if each has its own, different bias. Forcing Google to be biassed in favor of selected EU competitors seems a bit much for a remedy. If the EU wants a EU approved comparison site, there is nothing stopping them creating their own.
