Interesting take. American models are also free: open models come from all over the world, including the US.
Google and Meta publish open-weights (Gemma, Llama, etc); NVIDA Nemotron hits pretty hard on many metrics; even OpenAI have an open model
Dunno if I love the Ferrari vs. Honda comparison but it is pretty handy - the most-expensive model doesn't make sense for every use-case
