Have any other users of Bitwarden on Debian with GNOME (might be applicable elsewhere too) noticed a Remote Desktop permissions prompt with the latest (2026.07.0) release? In my case, installed via flatpak. This seems like a worrying thing for a password manager, and I cannot see anything in documentation / release notes which mentions it - but I might be missing something. #Bitwarden #Linux

@neil@mastodon.neilzone.co.uk I think KeePassXC has been thinking about using a RDP feature to enable Auto Type feature on Linux. This would have made a window popup every time you used that feature. Regarding Bitwarden this can if course be a bug, unless they have something similar as Auto Type?

@neil@mastodon.neilzone.co.uk I've seen this used a few times by other password managers - Wayland's security posture prevents apps from typing into each other reliably, so when you want your password manager to autotype (because you can't paste into a window for whatever reason) someone came up with the horrible hack of rdp-ing into your own machine to get around that. I *thought* people had come up with better fixes now, but maybe I'm wrong.

@neil@mastodon.neilzone.co.uk maybe it needs the permission to emulate keypresses for those shitty websites that deliberately disallow pasting in the password field
