RE: https://mastodon.energy/@Sustainable2050/116982434655513966 Mitigating climate change was expensive they said. People wouldn't want to be burdened by the costs. Above all, industry does not want to contribute their fair share. Count your pennies, as the bill of (adapting to) climate change effects will be worse than the one mitigating it. (FYI this was all predicted in 2006 - see Stern review)

@koen_hufkens@mastodon.social Well, France and Spain have done a good job lowering their CO2 emissions (mitigating climate change). In France they were even lower than expected! France's CO2 emissions fell more than expected in 2024 and 2025 https://www.thelocal.fr/20260616/frances-co2-emissions-fell-more-than-expected-in-2024-and-2025 So, we have done our part, the problem is at the other side of the world, they don't do their part and we suffer the consequences: US drives rise in global emissions as utilities turn back to coal, report shows #Climate https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/us-leads-global-co2-emissions-increase-2025-report-finds-2026-06-29/
