Mac mini from an old project (2019?) has been sitting here mostly unused for years.
My usual Dell monitors wont work on it. When I try to boot up, the monitors display an error about the resolution or refresh rate being too high to display.
So I borrowed my 19yo's gaming monitor, etched Ubuntu 26.04 desktop to a USB stick, and it boots up!
Now contemplating installing Ubuntu. I suspect there is probably no easy way to go back to whatever Apple OS is on the hard drive once I attempt to install Ubuntu.
I don't care about the Apple OS. I just don't want to leave the device in a bricked state.

Tonight I moved the Mac Mini -- running Ubuntu 26.04 and Kodi -- back to the living room where it is hooked up to the TV. Everything seems to work, including wifi and sound. Anyone else wanting to do the same, follow the instructions here: https://t2linux.org/
