If we say there's 40 possible seeks, in two directions, and 16 different step rate times, that's 1,280 unique samples, just for stepping. You start to wonder if synthesizing a stepper motor might be more reasonable. But I hate programming anything sound related and I don't have the foggiest idea of how i'd synthesize a stepper motor sound.
