Those trombone mutes are 100% the plunge-y part of a toilet plunger. I remember my former roommate who was a trombone composition major buying one from WalMart in the middle of the night b/c she lost her previous one

@analgesicsleep@mastodon.social As a trumpet player, I bought a sink plunger from Ace Hardware, specifically, because it was smaller and more trumpet-bell-sized. Sometimes I tell people "don't worry, I've got a handle on things, well except on thet plunger" and whip out the wooden handle that came with the plunger
