Per ISBNdb, the company that (allegedly) Anthropic is hiring to buy and scan and destroy these old books: “A physical book is a delivery mechanism for information. Once that information has been extracted and encoded into an AI model, the delivery mechanism has served its purpose.” The purpose of a book, you see, is to train AI models, and to let ISBNdb make a dollar.
