@ami_angelwings@urusai.social Excellent speech. I was so sad that episode ended the way it did, but it was all the more realistic for not having the happy ending that I wanted. :(

  • @sapphire@mstdn.games https://www.womenatwarp.com/episode-67-the-outcast/ i guested on Women at Warp and defended the ending even though I also wish it had a happy ending, and I think it's all the more effective because the "cure" works and doesn't involve torture like yes, RL conversion therapy doesn't work and is torture, but what if one day we find a way to "fix" queer people that does work and isn't painful, is that then okay? I think getting the audience to empathize with her and feel such horror at the death of personality she suffers at the end is an effective way to show how evil taking away somebody's identity is even if it's painless

@sapphire@mstdn.games @ami_angelwings@urusai.social if they had asked me, I would have given it and even sadder/more impactful ending. But nobody asked me. I was eight years old when it came out.
