I am against capitalism due to its inefficiency when trying to maximize quality of and time for living. People working to make a product that breaks due to planned obsolescence on one side and people working to afford the constantly breaking things on the other side. Meaningless busy work ridding people of purpose. I see the fight against capitalism not just as one for humane conditions, but also as a fight for allowing purpose and people to coexist instead of clash.

@ErikUden@mastodon.de same. "Efficiency" under capitalism is a purely extractive metric AI datacenters displacing and destroying communities is explicitly capitalist. Capitalism says that if the capital reproduction machine ever values the carbon in you blood more than the fire in your soul, your life is forfeit. Capitalism says that the people who own the systems of production can create as much scarcity as they want to maximize profits. It says institutions can own shares across all 3 "competitors" in an industry and influence their boards to cut production to improve unit economics, draining the wider economy. Etc

@ErikUden@mastodon.de it's all so incredibly nihilistic. I've been thinking lately how I'm not hearing of any big companies (tech or otherwise) promoting upcoming innovations or future facing vision that isn't hand-wavy "AI". I'm more often hearing of already-announced products that are more of the same, but being delayed. I've noticed all the excitement over watching Nolan's Odyssey on IMAX, which is a technology from the 1970s. Hard not to see we're being conditioned to only look backwards in faux-nostalgia. Not that we need more of the same old capitalist buy-new-thing, but it's notable that companies aren't even trying anymore. Like they think the world's going to end by 2028.

@ErikUden@mastodon.de I am against capitalism, because we see each other as different from one another. And we measure our differences according to amount of wealth we produce, willingness to produce or willingness to extract it from others.
