@samueljohnson@mstdn.social I don't understand the comment on step 2. I should disable DHCP on the router, or I should not? Anyway, bookmarked for when I’m feeling adventurous.

@etp@indieweb.social You never want two DHCP servers*. So, yes, disable on router and enable on Pi. Do it from separate tabs open simultaneously. *Exceptions: If router offers a separate wireless guest network w its own subnet and DHCP that's fine. If you have DHCP servers with separate address ranges (to avoid address collisions). Not worth bothering with at home.

@etp@indieweb.social NB important to avoid having no DHCP server! If that happens you might need to reset router to re-enable OR set set a static IP on PC in order to log in to router. It's (a bit) like locking your keys in the car. Fixable but inconvenient. None: bad One: good Two: one too many, also bad Oscar Wilde on bigamy comes to mind. 😉
