They've made two good Super Mario Bros. films now. These plots are so blindingly simple and formulaic and full of tropes. And that's what the audience wants, as it mimics the games that created those tropes. How fucking hard was this that they couldn't manage it before?! And this could've been great cel animation in a joint production between Mirimax and Nintendo and Toho, before you come with the "CGI" excuse. Might've taken less work.
