@ghost_shit@aus.social ok…
Brace yourself.
I’m the wrong person to talk about Paul’s Boutique.
I know everybody loves it… but I was never really a fan.
That album is waaaaaaay to sample heavy for my liking.
So heavy in fact, that nobody could make that record now.
Most of the samples would be UNCLEAR-able and very expensive.
I find Check and I’ll to be far more organic experiences, and way more successful musically.
It’s a ridiculously unpopular opinion, but one I’ve held for years.

@TheVinylApe@cupoftea.social @ghost_shit@aus.social that’s kinda what I love about Paul’s Boutique and other 80/90s albums is that they would be impossible to make today. I’ve been on a binge of collecting that genre of music lately so if you have a list of good record stores please slide it my way. Also, “It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back” by Public Enemy would like to talk to you about greatest hip hop album of all time.
