In Canada one way we do bilingual signage is just to overlap the common bits. For example, there might be a street named “Smith Street” in English or “Rue Smith” in French, so the street sign will say “Rue Smith Street”. I’ve been waiting for some builder with a sense of humour to make a “Rue McClanahan Street” or a “Rue The Day Street”. The other one that amuses me is Shower Gel, or “Gel Douche” in French.
