One detail on the adopted amendments on protecting encrypted communication: They are specifically worded to also exclude client-side scanning, which is scanning of content before the encryption takes place for the transmission: "... interpersonal communications to which end-to-end encryption is, has been or will be applied". Update: The EU Commission has accepted the European Parliament's 2nd reading amendments on the #chatcontrol 1.0 file - the ones protecting encrypted communication.
