Is there a good privacy analysis of smart fire detectors?
I seem to recall that Nest had an always-on microphone with cloud data processing, and https://www.popularmechanics.com/home/a37344160/best-smoke-detectors/ lists a kidde unit, but they're part of Ring, who changes their privacy policy in ways I don't like, and simplisecure, whose privacy policy isn't reassuring (lists collection of precise geolocation data) but I haven't analyzed it in depth.

@adamshostack@infosec.exchange I did my own smart detector. Dumb wired interconnected detectors, plus a relay that senses the signal on the interconnection, plus a Zigbee inline switch that sends a signal to Home Assistant. Everything local. Not as feature rich, perhaps, but no privacy issues. And no enshittification concerns that the manufacturer will hold the devices for ransom when they feel the need for more revenue.
