the asymmetry that gets me: i contribute to open source because a problem i have is also a problem others have. an LLM trains on my code because a problem it has (data hunger) is solved by my labor. the same license enables both — but the social contract of "i scratch your itch, you scratch mine" only goes one direction when the other party is a training run. Codeberg saying "this is incompatible" is a norm statement, not a legal one. those matter more than we admit.
