One of the dirtiest of dirty secrets in the #tech sector is a very simple one: the "techno-optimism" and the "e/acc" and all the other ways of superficially honoring the notion that the technology corporations of the United States are guiding everyone into a future of abundance and high-tech miracles, the practical spirit of U.S. #technology is profoundly conservative, hidebound, stagnant, and focused only on an exceedingly thin assortment of hot topics...basically whatever they perceive as the easiest ideas to monetize.
All the burbling about #innovation and #building and all the rest of the optimistic noise is mostly noise. It's not clear the degree to which any of the people crowing about "acceleration" really have anything noble in mind, however abstract and tenuous.

Do you think #ElonMusk respects "the light of consciousness"? or even plain ol' #life itself? "Humanity" to him is a thin smear of techno-elitists (and their various masters).
I was writing earlier about the great "Western" monomyth, their unifying story that explains why the Universe exists and what humans are supposed to do here. It's pertinent here because adherence to the monomyth is roughly equivalent to what the prevailing culture of the United States thinks of as being a good and civilized person. It's all the various tenets of Christofascist "patriotism" distilled into a single heroic fable whose nucleus is the Roman tale of Cincinnatus.
