On the one hand, I get what she’s saying. On the other hand I was completely fucking miserable and didn’t feel like I was myself at all before starting HRT. I would have just killed myself had that not been an option. My wife is now peri, and has been fobbed off of going on HRT. She’s been active her whole life, and has been denied the means to remain active because of the beliefs of her GP. We’re going to look for another, but she feels like her agency has been taken away. Nothing in our society is natural, from the things we interact with every day, through to it’s entire structure. So why should we have to accept a less active and vibrant life before we’re good and ready? This is a good thing to be researching, but just accepting menopause isn’t going to work for me.

That’s fair, and thanks for your perspective. Menopause is a ways off for me but I like to read up, considered how hard my period was on my body and mental health. I want to understand it from multiple sides before it happens.
