Remember? about a week ago, I pleaded with you never to use rat poison? after having seen a squirrel carrying a blue poison cake up the tree in our condo yard? This afternoon, I found a seriously weakened squirrel in my flowerbed while changing birdbath water. After I contemplated what to do for several minutes, decided to bring him indoors, so he can rest in a safe place. He didn’t resist at all when I gently picked him up. At first, he nibbled on some apple and looked a tad hopeful. He even peed, and occasionally scratched himself. I emailed the wildlife vet (our rats’ vet) I’d like to bring him in tomorrow if he survived overnight. He just passed on, looks at peace now. He was tossing and turning—suffering all evening, poor thing. It was really heart-wrenching to watch. So, once again, I’m pleading with you never to use rat poison. Thank you.
