While there might be a prescriptive (ideal) norm to not use "AI" in our social circle, if the descriptive norm (what most folks are doing), just seems the opposite, we are inclined to act alike. Basically a „If everyone is doing it, why not do it ourselves?“ thing. This is also why ads are like „97% of devOps teams use SlopGPT ….bla bla“. There is a fun study by Goldstein et al. (2008) about hotel towls if you are interested.
