They never forgave the Democrats and the press for humiliating Nixon and thus they aided Richard Nixon's quest to rehabilitate himself. These days Republicans feel proud of Nixon again and hold him up as a great leader. But they never liked Nixon either and he knew it. He felt like a whipped dog, taking all the heat and all the blame for the people who actually had all the power.
The ghost of Richard Nixon is restless, still wide awake (on uppers of course) and still toiling away at the rehabilitation because...come ON. Do you think Dick Nixon deserves to be remembered kindly?

As with Reagan and Ayn Rand and all the dead Republican saints the positive-seeming legacy of Richard M. Nixon requires constant upkeep and the expenditure of considerable money funnelled into the Nixon library (NOT part of the regular Presidents' library system, though propaganda has obscured this) and a myriad other organizations devoted to the study and exaltation of Tricky Dick. Surely though Reagan gets far more money poured over his rancid clotted legacy to keep it fresh. (cont'd)
