'Seijo' (青女 lit. 'The Blue Woman') is the goddess of snow and frost who appears in the ancient Chinese text 'Huainanzi' (淮南子 'The Writings of the Huainan Masters').

Formed of huge megalithic rocks, the waterfall was only unearthed in 1968 during 2 years of excavations by the garden historian Mori Osamu (森蘊 1905-88). It is currently slightly shorter (3m) than when finished in 1133. #Kyoto #京都 #Japan #waterall #森蘊 #法金剛院 #Hokongoin
