Everyone bought it. Everyone important that is: just as mainstream U.S. #media and #politics still honors the plaster sainthood of Ronald Reagan, even though he was arguably the worst President who's ever existed (Trump is nobody compared with Reagan) and similarly they honor that tireless self-marketing of Richard M. Nixon. #Democrats fell for it of course, the useless traitorous chumps. They talk as if all Nixon's obscene preoccupation with conniving and digging up intellectual thugs to do dirty jobs for him was vanished past, washed away by Nixon's resignation. What political courage that took! the Democrats must say. (cont'd)

It's like everyone forgot that the Washington Post barely scratched the surface of Nixon's corruption. Nixon can almost be said to have invented a "Deep State", although of course he's not the first human leader who''s ever ruled through secret conspiracy. For a tiny interval the people of the United States were made acquainted with the strange spectacle of a supposedly democratic and law-abiding President collecting various mercenaries and court jesters and academic cranks into orbit about himself. Nixon ruled like a crimelord and it's spellbound the popular imagination of the United States. (cont'd)
