A great many right-wing drones failed out of academia, like Bret Weinstein flunking his two-bit teaching job at Evergreen State because he couldn't hide his bigotry. (Bigots never WANT to hide so they have poor self-preservation in posts requiring discretion.) By their lights it's because academia and #education is a den of Marxist infiltration—they've been working that angle a long while, in different forms—so they've built their own network of fake institutions of fraudulent learning.
From lofty and invisible heights, multimillionaires' money trickles down to feed all these Institutes and Foundations and right-wing media outlets.

It's usual for the really prominent propagandists on the #conservatives' side to have a tremendous list of accolades and impressive-sounding titles and "fellowships" in mimicry of legitimate education. They give themselves lots of participation trophies, these folks, and they like to have pillow-fights with each other—"debates" devoid of intellectual gravitas, mere mutual-admiration sessions where everyone gets space to burble their pseudo-science or their fraudulent theories about people and society and economics. #Capitalism is sometimes cited as a topic worthy of intense study, far more lavishly funded than (say) history or mathematics or any genuine discipline.
