#Marketing has laid waste to U.S. culture and so-called "Western Civilization", which now teeters on the brink of dissolution largely because marketers have had at least a solid century of beating the collective minds of "the West" into pulp. The cynical social assumptions of the marketers are now mainstream. "Everyone knows" that the common herd are mere bundles of impulses to be driven about by advertising and corralled by The Rule of Law™, administered by strongman police-state government. The #Democrats believe this with almost as much intense fervour as the Republicans, as VP Kamala Harris demonstrated in so much blood-curdling footage of getting giggly and excitable over police stuff, and telling witty stories about throwing so many folks in jail. But the Republicans take a blood-and-guts, fire-and-brimstone approach to "criminal justice" that the Democrats can't equal. The Dems want to be the friendly police state, and the GOP therefore has the upper hand over them. They're more honest about the sort of "criminal justice" they say is necessary to keep the common herd safe and tame. But as a result the Republicans perpetually feel like they get the short end of U.S. media however much airtime they're given and however many concessions they're granted. It's never enough. The GOP's mindset is apocalyptic and that's very hard to sell. Only a relatively small cohort of fanatics likes that stuff, so the Republican marketing has to find ways to sweeten the message a little. (cont'd)
