Macross pertains to a First Contact situation and handles it with considerable aplomb and humor while not sparing the viewer the inevitable anguish of fragile humans going up against aliens who have toughened themselves in a way that the right-wing viewers must envy.
They used to be small and frail like humans, back in the forbidden before-times of their "Protoculture" (which they still remember though, in fear) but then they shed their little bodies to inhabit space-hardened giant forms. Yet they retain the power to go back to a smaller "miclone" body for special purposes, and this enables them to walk among humans for the first time.

I have retained an intense childhood faith (or craving perhaps) in the idea that there really are other civilizations up there in #space, other lifeforms elsewhere in the Solar System, and the very distant possibility of learning that for sure some day. We Pnictogens have also been devoting itself to searching examination of the likelihood of organic life that does not follow the usual biochemistry of Earth life. But this brings me to an issue of superlative importance in U.S. and global affairs: space exploration is being threatened by the #tech sector, who have extremely different sorts of designs on space.
