@ceartas@mastodon.world @ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org Hi, just wondering, how often is the snorkel truly useful in socal? (I assume you're socal based) I was in Darwin Australia recently, and just about every 4x4 over there has a snorkel. But they get a rainy season that floods everything so it makes sense. I've always wondered why people have them in socal, but what do I know I don't go offroad much. I think I crossed an 8" deep stream in my car once, that was it.

@teleclimber@social.tchncs.de @ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org We live in a tiny riparian woodland, in N. Los Angeles County, with an acquifer running beneath it. The area has been subject to historical flooding. My wife was working at Universal Studios Hollywood, and thought that “the highway was washed out” was a good excuse for being late to work, but was penalized anyway. Thus began our 4wd adventure. This car was built to be a mudder. We’re now down to two Jeeps, it’s an illness.
