A "blue chip" #investment is supposed to be a sure bet, a license to print money, and the term derives from the conventions of gambling in poker: the blue chips (the literal discs of plastic) are treated as the most valuable. The #crypto "coins" and the NFT "tokens" and other such #blockchain gimmicks are intrinsically worthless or very nearly worthless just like cheap plastic poker chips, but they're shuffled about in a context in which they're meant to represent extreme wealth...or at least, the potential to be exchanged for extreme wealth. After all, these things are gonna EXPLODE all over the WORLD...right? (cont'd)

The weird NFT fanboy in the Dan Olson documentary, from a #marketing standpoint, doesn't have much to market. He's at an extreme disadvantage in all respects. He's trying to present himself as a financial expert in a community where nobody can possibly be an expert. (Yes, there's serious players in this #crypto sphere but they're not watching YouTube videos on how to get rich overnight.) He's forced to rely on an painfully limited bag of tricks: his jewelry, his brand-name shirt, an extremely forced-looking pose of calm and measured confidence as his brain stumbles over the words he's hoping will convince his audience that he's dispensing sound bankable financial advice.
