In this age of sensitive mediocrities your mind is expected to tiptoe thru the nursery of public feeling, apologizing to every stuffed animal it fails to affirm. To think clearly is to become rude by accident. To speak honestly is to commit vandalism against someone's self image. Intellectual loneliness is what remains when conversation dies & is replaced by consensus with a human face.
