I found it this blog post commeting the functions and possible replacements for Calibre... Not very promissing.
The best alternative today, is still at development and is a Mac Os app... (Citadel).

@andrewblasco@masto.es I find that you just gotta lean in man. It's weird software and looks like it's from 2003 but it works and it's fine. Organize your books, remove DRM, update metadata then close it and go read some books. 🤓
