We can go broader. Republicunts only win elections when Dems are in power (this of course mainly speaks to competitive districts which often go on to determine legislative control) because Dems completely fail at the popularity game (and combatting bullshit propaganda). Dems are horrible at relating how their achievements have effected their voters on an individual, personal level, and equally as horrible at attacking opponents along lines that are relatable to their constituents. They often refuse to play dirty when that’s exactly what gets people to pay attention now. You can’t be a politician anymore. You have to be a shit talking rock (country-themed is a bonus) star. The general voting public don’t give two fucks about platforms. They care about one issue at most (hi tankies) but also what the talking head on the news says about whether to like you or not.
