In the late 90s or early 00s, our building retroactively received fiber connections. Almost all of the terminal boxes suffer from fractured plastic due to overtightened screws.
We just co-use this seminar room, but it annoys me so much to see these dangling like this... I've been told that you can't get these boxes anymore, so I'll have to quickly cut something to size to act as a brace.

So much better. Small jobs that lead to obvious and immediately visible improvements are my fave. It also makes me happy to work in an old lab where you can find random junk if you need it. Piece of scrap metal? Sure! A pair of fitting screws? Found in minutes! A hole punch? I have one right here!

@StripeyYena@chaosfurs.social a buddy has central heating vent grilles that are now billet alloy as that particular size stopped being made in plastic 20 years ago. Now they will outlast the house.
