I always wonder why people use their last name on social media platforms. Isn't that like, really dangerous? 🤔

@miona@toot.lgbt I use mine cuz I like to do writing/blogging, and I feel like it helps people recognize me. I don't use it directly on my username, but it's my website domain name, which is linked to from my profile. Idk, I sometimes worry about it, but I don't think I'm likely to run into any actual risks 🤷

@miona@toot.lgbt It seems unwise to me, unless maybe you only post entirely innocuous material or you're some kind of public figure. On the other hand, I wonder if using an alias provides a false sense of security, and our identities aren't that hard to find?
