  For those outside the US, if you’ve ever wondered why USians believe government can’t do anything, it’s things like this. We let business majors take over our public services, defunded the rest, and this is what the result is. Thing is, I know things can function because I’ve lived in other countries, but this shit could make anyone feel like the best option is to buy a rifle and retreat into the woods from all human society. 😅 As a reminder, I was already awarded a scholarship from the California government, which would be paid to a public university (which is effectively part of the government too), so that I could work with the California government for 4 years after I graduate. And this all almost fell apart and destroyed my life because someone was careless about a single word on a form and another person was a pedantic asshat. Let’s just say this does not endear me to any of these institutions.
