    @miladj@mastodonapp.uk I've never used it personally, it's quite old and didn't really have the sticking power of C or Perl. I should get a little experience in before I write my blog post, but it's going to be a response to the history of the language as documented by the (main) guy who designed it, Alan Kay. I mention it because it was the first object oriented language, and OOP meant something a bit different to Kay than we would think of the term today - as it was interpreted by the people who designed Java and C++ and Python, etc. So as an OOP critic, I find it really interesting to examine Smalltalk as a "patient zero" or "Typhoid Mary" influence on the next 30+ years of language design, especially considering the innocent intentions that went into it.
