@CindyWeinstein@zirk.us The article I read was about old-growth forests and (iirc) rare fungi (among other things) that live there. There was probably something about one that had a symbiotic/parasitic relationship with particular photosynthesising plants. I can't remember the details and I didn't bookmark it, but I do remember the gist that parasitism in general gets a bad rap, but actually it's a sign of a healthy ecosystem. That stuck with me. Obviously, we can both easily come up with examples of unhealthy parasitism. That is what that is, but I suppose the article just opened my eyes up a bit more to thinking about things more in terms of wider networks and ecologies.
