@BasicAppleGuy@mastodon.social Yes! When people say the roundrect/squircle icon was designed for touch, remind them of Dashboard. I'm not sure of the official reason for roundrect icons in Dashboard. I always thought it indicated that widgets were simpler than apps. So then it made sense for iPhone icons too, since those apps were either widget-like or simpler versions of desktop apps. Simple icons for simple apps (Dashboard/iPhone), rich icons for rich apps (Mac).

@BasicAppleGuy@mastodon.social Still miss Dashboard widgets. A friend of mine was working on an app that would run native widgets, but then he fell for the hype, decided nobody cared and gave up. 😔
